They never bought an espresso[...]" So your argument is that getting to eat foreign foods, watch cable TV, go to the movies more often and drink espresso is much better than owning a house, not having a mountain of student debt, and having a well paid, secure job? Don't forget that most people don't have savings and when they lose their job (which happens often these days) it can take a long time to find a new one. Often too long. Most people would prefer the security of the past than the foreign foods and espresso of the future and if it was 1960 and you explained to me that was our future I wouldn't believe it could get that bad. |
