Nope, didn't think so.

Blame IP law, and blame the DMCA, but don't blame Apple for being diligent.

actually the courts have explicitly said that the DMCA can't be used to prevent interoperability. This is a well known case http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chamberlain_Group,_Inc._v._....
