It just instituted a bunch of changes which will radically change the magazine and may make it break even. According to what I could find online, the advertising rates they can charge make The New Yorker relatively profitable. Do you know if Bloomberg television is profotable or mainly a vehicle for promoting the brand? The reporting is a whole lot higher quality than CNBC, but the ads, especially in the evening seem like they are pretty cheap.
Between subscriptions and ads, I can say from first-hand knowledge that The New Yorker is definitely one of the more profitable Conde barns/magazines.
