Waiting on interesting read on Coca-Cola giving cancer...

Oh the link was present in the article, digging deeper here's closer to reality:

The reference study on mice points to these quantities:

Groups of 50 male and 50 female mice were fed diets containing 0, 312, 625, or 1,250 ppm 4-methylimidazole (equivalent to average daily doses of approximately 40, 80, and 170 mg 4-methylimidazole/kg body weight to males and females) for 106 weeks.

Which should compare to 2600mg on the lowest non-zero dose for a light-ish guy like me.

The levels measured in the California/New-York Coca-Cola/Coke Zero were 3.8 to 4.0 quite below the 29mcg (micro-gram) limit requiring a label per California's legislation. Granted Pepsi/Max/Zero's number were much higher.

To match the study I'd have to drink 650000 cans of coke.

For all we know the 2-3 cans a day I drink might be reduce my cancer rate from hormesis alone.

Some cola potentially, and Coca-Cola isn't the worst offender in their sample: http://hub.jhu.edu/2015/02/19/soda-caramel-coloring-cancer/ (reached by clicking the link in the article)
