I'm in Chicago, in a dense-but-not-a-high-rise area. LTE on my phone was drastically better than wifi on any device -- on weekday evenings, my laptop was useless. In a 700 square foot apartment. Bought an OnHub, now shit works. Google is definitely not full of shit when they say that the routers are really solid at optimizing the setup. I could've fussed with placement of the old router, hunted through the channels, installed different firmware, or whatever -- but I don't spend that much time at home, and that's no longer what I'm interested in fiddling with. |
