Most people aren't and shouldn't be concerned with the technical details of a consumer product's implementation, especially when it is marketed as Autopilot and, in practice, it creates a false sense of security.

Tesla marketed their immature technology with the name Autopilot, they failed to include safety features their competitors' vehicles had and they knew how people behaved (trusted and crashed) because of it.

I find it hard to fault consumers for naively putting trust in their vehicles.
