I don't think it would work. Tweets don't really classify as 'content'. Also you can never rely on donations - People only pay money when they have no other choice.
Donations are only one of many possible micro-payment transactions. Creators/vendors can also provide digital entitlements to their customer/users, in exchange for revenue.
