I find it very strange that the author spends a couple paragraphs talking about definitions and yet does not offer a definition of "stereotype" because I consider a lot of his stereotypes to actually be generalizations. Of course this raises the question of the difference between stereotypes and generalizations. I did some searching but didn't find anything I would call authoritative and I don't think I could define them myself in any meaningful terms. |
