On the flip side, republicans try to sabotage the functioning of many agencies so that they can then complain that the private sector would be a better fit. This has been their MO towards the Post Office for longer than I've been alive, and have been diligently working to undermine social security in the hopes that may be privatized as well. It's the 'starve the beast' strategy on a larger scale.
