Call me old fashioned, but I still think the best way to learn Vim is vimtutor. Then just google whatever you might need or consult :help.

Some nice intuitive stuff in the help, too.

(they're nroff macros, but pretty baffling to a beginner)
+1 to vimtutor. I learned with it 15 years ago and this was the fastest way for me to memorize many vim features.
