That's correct. Your employer might give you a talking to or fire you, but they could not charge you with a crime.

So you are telling everyone here that you could go to work, loudly exclaim that you hate niggers and they should die (analogous to police situation in article) and you wouldn't face any legal actions?
That's right. In the U.S., saying you think certain kinds of people should die is not illegal and is not considered a threat, legally. Nor is saying you hate certain people.
Not in USA at least. You would of course be immediately fired, but it's not actually illegal, so you couldn't be charged with a crime.
