The author mentions software piracy but I think other varieties were often a driving force. Nowadays with good legitimate digital music/video/software services there's much less need for that. In-person gaming is still something special, but I don't blame people for not going to all the logistical effort when you can just sit down at home in the evening with zero pre-planning and get most of the same experience online. |
