Exactly! I don't have a daughter but the story resonated so powerfully that I cannot think of anything else this morning. This would be an interesting case to discuss with proponents of cultural relativism (pretty much everyone in academic circles), along with bride burning in India and female circumcision in Africa: I see absolutely no way you can defend it. |
