I thought this headline was referring to what I think is a more insidious form of moderation, the type that's practiced here on ycombinator with regard to style, for example, negativity is punished broadly here. The reason I find it more insidious is that it affects the speech of and acts to silence even moderate people. Extreme speech is easy to spot; but when moderate speech encounters headwinds that divert its path, that's creepy. I understand the goals here, don't need them explained, just pointing out that slashdot in its heyday was a terrific and informative resource and it did not resort to stifling. |
