This is a followup from my last question here:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9947816 I am now an entry level SWE, and have interviewed in person many places, including Google in-person. I interviewed around ~10 places via references and my school's career fair, but all ended up not working out despite going quite far in some of the interviews. My question pertains to the fact that now I find it hard to get companies to even look at my resume, since I don't have any direct SWE experience, despite my knowledge. My project work is a bit lackluster since I studied algos and data structures primarily to be able to do well on interviews, and most places won't give me the time of day without a referral currently. I have made a site, found here www.hectorramosjr.com (Let me know if I shouldn't post it here) and tried doing some quick projects, but to no real avail. What am I doing wrong? I would thoroughly appreciate any advice, as I currently can't get any further interviews, and I find it a bit depressing considering how well I've done on some interviews to not even be given the time of day by other companies. |
