At one time, most people didn't use computers at all. The people who did were the hacker minority. Machines were not portable or networked - you'd only pack them up in your car to take them to the local computer group. We may go back to that. There may be a hacker community using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and Android phones and Chromebooks running in developer mode. That's still going to be a lot more than a few hundred hardware hackers. Look at how many people bought Raspberry Pi alone. There's a big middle ground between mainstream and utter obscurity. |
