The Mt. Palomar instrument is also equitorial, as is a Russian telescope of similar design that is somewhat larger. In traditional equitorial mounts, the scope hangs off one side, but the Wilson one is too large for this, so it is suspended at both ends, and this is further modified for Palomar. |
