These sorts of comments about IBM have been appearing for years if not decades. The existence of previous comments didn't stop Buffett from buying IBM stock and the existence of the current comments won't influence him either.

Nonetheless, he's probably having second thoughts. In the past he's admitted he didn't invest in technology companies because he couldn't understand them. Foolishly he violated his own guidelines here.

A number of years ago I owned Burlington Northern stock as it was being acquired by Berkshire. The merger terms allowed choosing cash vs Berkshire stock vs some combination. I chose cash, because I was uncomfortable with owning the giant conglomerate which Berkshire now is.

I think cash was the wrong decision. BH resembles the US economy. Nothing wrong with that.
