Not really a good analogy. Elephants are not an imported pest animal. And if it was a really old elephant, I think a lot of people would be OK about selling hunting licenses for large sums of money that benefit the community. A better analogy is cane toads in Australia. Those things have become such a threat to local wildlife, they are killed indiscriminantly.
