Your first concern often comes up in Dropbox threads. Of course they could easily offer a plan at 0.5TB / $5 or some such. They just don't want to. They'd lose more revenue from existing customers dropping from $10 to $5 than they'd gain by new customers going from $0 to $5. It's not that Dropbox can't offer less space, it's that they're not interested in making the baseline price anything lower than $10. Put another way, Dropbox is perfectly happy to get along without customers who think the difference between $5 and $10 is something to care about. |
