"data center" is a confusing term. Very few companies build their "data centers" (apple, google, amazon, NSA, actual 'data center' companies, etc). Most companies rent cage space in a larger data center and call that their "private data center." Smaller companies will rent a few dedicated servers or colo half racks from other resellers. |
