I don't know how they decommission a zSystem. But from what the mainframe guys at work told me, hardware between 2 z boxes are pretty much the same and it's kind of licensed by load usage or components usage. So if you want to downgrade or upgrade memory/CPUs/etc. (to a certain degree), it's just a matter of having an IBM tech to enter the right license in the console. |
