I can confirm that Avaaz are a great organization. They're very effective (but mostly unknown in the US), professional, and it'd be an honor to work with them.

I think they may need to clean up or edit their Wikipedia page. For example, in the See Also section "Slacktivism" is one of the links and in general reading the page gives a pretty bad impression. I totally believe what you're saying but when someone (like me) who doesn't know anything about Avaaz and tries to get a third-party independent view of them it doesn't look pretty.
