I was in the same boat not too long ago. I was 38 with 15 years at a school district job as a systems analyst and programmer. I wasn't laid off or let go but I couldn't do it any more. I couldn't do one more Exchange or VMWare upgrade. My advice: go hard! Send out your resume. Leaving my cushy job for the unknown has reinvigorated every part of my life: financial, spiritual, marital, parental. It has been easy but it's been very rewarding. |
