I wonder what is in common between a search engine and a driverless car. Apart from creating a Google copycat. I'm persuaded they did reinvent all the internals of the car, so when you're at that point of innovation, why copy Google's list of departments?
Their face recognition software is currently much better than second best (Google) 0.37% vs 0.15% error, Their voice recognition seems to be the very best. What they are famous for now is not what they are famous for in the next few years.
