For me, "social media" implies that I can use the platform to wish you a happy birthday. It should also allow me to show the world what I care about (people I know, topics I like, etc) just by visiting my profile. HN allows neither, so I wouldn't count it as so. I'd probably classify it as "news site with comments", but not "social media". |
