No company will do a recall if there is no good reason for it. Immediate questions spring to mind: why wasn't this caught prior to rolling out the cars? Was this design done by Tesla or was it an off-the-shelf component from another manufacturer? Is it an integration issue, a material defect or some other kind of problem? How did this pass the various crash tests? There is no way a company like Tesla would open up their brand to such speculation voluntarily if they could avoid it by designing a better product from the start. |
