I don't understand. Why place the order before confirming the prices? Why not just put it on the site and save the text? A service like this refusing to give me a price until an order is placed will make me a bit suspicious and leery from a consumer's perspective.

Why the secrecy on the prices of these avocados? I don't get it.

If you are really that price conscious, you probably shouldn't be using SF-based delivery services (or be living in SF) in the first place.

This thread has gone from a parody of the reluctance of HN readers to spend money to actual reluctance to spend money.

I must protest!

We still need a discussion about how the NSA is instrumenting avocados to track us, how free markets distort government regulation of avocado markets, how we should all grow our own trees, how YC has jumped the shark by funding avocado services without a proven business model, how we are in an avocado bubble and a deep learning implementation that generates avocados crossed with dogs.

Then we can ask these kind of questions!
