The article mentions an excellent example of gun control reducing crime (Australia http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/19/world/us-australia-gun-con... ). UK has way less murders: http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/United-King...

Yes NationMaster does seem to suggest a much lower murder rate. UK defines violent crime differently than the USA and seems to have more of it by its own definition, but murders are more clear cut across botj.

Where does NationMaster get its data? And where is the data on assaults (eg by knife)

NOW the real question is, can you find murder and assault statistics in the UK before and after the ban on guns a few decades ago?
