I was momentarily excited because I thought this was a dumbphone. Alas, it's just a smartphone with restrictions.

my only qualm is it that while it runs google maps, it wont be great for navigation while driving.

Why not? Just because the screen is so small? I’m sure the right mount could hold this on your dashboard without issue.

wouldn't it need to be flipped open? I guess that could work with the right mount
