standard stack - at most big tech co's. HN likes to shit on Java but yeah.
NASDAQ, Toast, Apex Financial, Transunion, many others...

Java is reliable, it's memory safe, it's mature, the tooling (IntelliJ and Eclipse) do not have competitors in other languages, the debugger is top notch, JFR is a lifeline, but most importantly the JVM is instrument-able. Something like jolokia agent+telegraf will get you a ton of vision into your production environment with zero changes to your codebase.

Java and the JVM are the best for so many reasons.
