Textile has built-in tables, in-line CSS classes and IDs. I find it generally more intuitive. It's also been around for longer.

Inferior formats catch on all the time. Betamax vs VHS is a good example.

I don't believe so. VHS won due to the abundance of pornography, but Betamax had superior resolution, audio and build quality.
