Although I agree with the core premise of the article, I wish to state that as we see from the cloudflare/oracle/coinbase and all these new layoffs, that the fact that the seniors aren't safe as well and the job/hiring market is quite unstable for them too to enter.

In fact within cloudflare they previously hired 1111 interns (iirc) and then fired 1100 employees (note that these employees are actually seniors), So it seems to me that seniors are getting laid off too and its effecting the industry in general.

Much of it also seems to be the fact that they are literally spending just about so much money right now that to make the numbers look better in other areas, they are laying off people as much as they can.

(hint: cloudflare spends 1-5 million dollars per month on a rough estimate in AI costs alone and has now fired 20% of its all workforce)

Seniors aren't layoff-proof, yeah, or anyone really.

I think the point I made in the article is more aimed at AI advancing into being able to do the jobs that people currently say they won't/can't do.

When ChatGPT appeared, not long ago, people said that it wouldn't be able to code well because it lacks the reasoning ability. Well, here we are.
