Why has it only started now on English parts of the world/Internet? I thought scalpers with hired buyers and bot farms choking stocks and reselling with huge markups has been a problem for at least a decade. If it wasn't since mid 00s.

Was consumerism too calm to support it? Or were parcel networks too unreliable? Or is it something else?
