There were a couple things I went into this curious if it could handle, and it could handle both, so that's great... (1) being able to select multiple people per line item easily, (2) tax & tip being handled proportionally, with an option to switch to even. Also I like how easy it is to add and select people, keeps it quick.
I think slimming down the time it takes to parse the receipt (while still keeping the accuracy high) is crucial. I had a moment while it was loading feeling like "well, am I just gonna sit here waiting whenever I use this?". It ultimately saved me time, but I could just see people dropping out very quickly at the slightest inconvenience on first use.
One other thing to consider- I live in a city where many people carry and use cash for things. It is pretty common for someone to put their card down on a group meal, and someone else to tip cash. Could be nice to have options to specify how much people spent toward the total, and use that to determine how much each person owes back ultimately.
curious how the AI handles messy receipts - like folded creases, multiple transactions on one paper, or those handwritten 'tax exempt' notes some places write on the total. also curious how you deal with tip calculation edge cases since thats where most splitting apps fall over
