Show HN: Free AI resume tailor I built after a recent layoff (300+ users so far) (jobbi.app)

Hey HN,

I’m a Staff Software Engineer, and just recently, on February 24, 2026, I was laid off along with 200+ coworkers. To survive the brutal job market, I hacked together a tool to automate my own applications: jobbi.app.

It just crossed 300+ users organically, so I wanted to share it here.

How it works:

You upload a big “master resume” (3–10+ pages with every job, duty, side project, and tech stack).

You paste a target job description.

Jobbi uses AI to pull out what’s relevant and generates a targeted resume for that specific role, with instant PDF/Markdown export.

Pricing / philosophy:

Core loop is 100% free: unlimited tailoring on standard models and unlimited exports.

All PII (name, phone, email) stays on the device; only the anonymized content goes to the model.

There’s an optional Pro tier that uses more expensive models (like Gemini Pro) on a subscription with a 2‑week free trial. I don’t push it, but I already have 4 subscribers, 2 of whom converted from trial.

I’d really appreciate unfiltered HN feedback:

Any UX bottlenecks or confusing flows?

Any privacy red flags?

Features that would actually help you land interviews?

Web: https://jobbi.app iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jobbi-ai-resume/id6757321088 Community: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jobbi/

There’s an in‑app iMessage form that pings my phone directly, or you can email support@jobbi.app. Thanks for taking a look.

Sorry to hear about the layoff, but building this to solve your own problem is the perfect hacker mindset. I'm not a Staff Engineer, but I heavily rely on AI like Gemini for my own personal projects, so I really appreciate that you offer Gemini Pro in your app. Keeping PII strictly on-device is also a huge trust-builder for a resume tool. Good luck with the job hunt and the app!
Thanks for the kind words, shintomura!

That "hacker mindset" is really what kept me sane during the first few weeks post-layoff. You’re spot on about the privacy—handling resumes means handling very personal data, so keeping PII on-device was a non-negotiable for me from day one.

Glad to hear you're a Gemini fan too. I chose Gemini Pro specifically because the context window and speed made the resume tailoring much more accurate compared to other models I benchmarked.

Really appreciate the support, and good luck with your own personal projects!
