About six months ago I posted Frames here on HN. The app itself received good reactions, but one comment stood out: my landing page was “sabotaging my chances of success.” That feedback was fair. I had built a solid product but communicated it poorly, with a website that was too minimal and not informative enough.
Since then I have gone back, listened, and rebuilt the entire presentation side of the project. The new site now includes clear sections explaining how Frames works, detailed screenshots, and a video overview right in the hero area. I also added a blog and changelog to show active development and keep users updated.
For those who have not seen it before:
Frames is an iPhone and macOS app for analog film photographers. It lets you log shot details such as camera, lens, film stock, exposure, and notes while shooting, then later embed that metadata into scanned JPEGs or DNGs to preserve the technical and creative context of each frame. Everything stays local with no cloud or account system.
This relaunch is as much about communication as code. I learned that how clearly you show what a product does and why it exists matters just as much as the product itself. Feedback is very welcome.
