How Twitter Handles Millions, If Not Billions of Tweets Every Day? (twitter.com)

Without the surveillance, cross-site tracking, algorithmic feed addiction, and profiling for sales of users brains to advertisers, one wonders just how small a server complement is actually required to run a (really) social site. I am reminded that Craig’s List started out as an email list, run on a server in Craig Newmark’s closet.

Are Mastodon and Bluesky untainted by the above? Hacker News? :-)

How does my PC handle millions if not billions of bytes everyday?!
