It's not a shift in core values, but rather the critical mass many of us warned about whereby once technology advanced sufficiently to facilitate a centralization push, we had to have enough distributed to defuse otherwise we'd be staring down the carving up of the world for the benefit of the technologically empowered.
I’ve seen this firsthand while building Trovebase—tech has shifted from simply adding features to prioritizing genuine user value and trust. It’s encouraging to see community-driven collaboration and ethical considerations taking center stage among makers.
ironically I'm not allowed to view the comments on this thread because Twitter doesn't work the way it used to

generally speaking though, I believe we're witnessing a digital enclosure movement.
