Show HN: 3D black hole animation for your new tabs (github.com)

After watching a video about recent black hole research, I learned that the “bright line” often seen above a black hole is actually light from the back of the disk, bent toward us by gravity. Amazing, right? I wanted to capture that sense of wonder every time I opened a tab, so I built this minimal extension based on sagarambade's animation work.

GraviTab is a tiny browser extension that replaces your default new tab page with a WebGL animation of a spinning black hole. Each reload generates new parameters, so I get to enjoy a slightly different black hole every time.
