Sometimes, I struggle to block distractions and create a calming environment while working. Most tools I’ve tried were either cluttered, didn’t provide the right kind of sound, or required payment. So, I decided to build my own simple green noise player.

For context, green noise features balanced, mid-range frequencies that mimic soothing natural sounds—ideal for relaxation, focus, or creating a peaceful backdrop while working. It’s also great for taking a mindful break during a busy day.

Right now, it’s a free, lightweight, browser-based solution. Playback pauses on mobile when the screen locks, but I’m exploring ways to improve it. Maybe a dedicated mobile version in the future?

Here's a geeky breakdown of each preset, including the filter curve details:

- Sleep: Frequencies: 20–2000 Hz. Designed for relaxation with low, consistent tones (-48 dB at extremes, -6 dB around 100 Hz). Mimics natural white noise to mask distractions.

- Relax: Frequencies: 20–2000 Hz. Balanced curve with a gentle rise to 12 dB at 100 Hz, then tapering off. Creates a calming ambiance suitable for unwinding.

- Deep Relax: Frequencies: 20–1000 Hz. Stronger low-frequency emphasis (-48 dB at 20 Hz rising to 0 dB at 100 Hz). Immersive and grounding for deeper tranquility.

- Meditation: Frequencies: 20–800 Hz. Focused range with smooth modulations (-48 dB at extremes, peaking at 0 dB near 100 Hz). Helps maintain mindfulness and reduce distractions.

- Stress Relief: Frequencies: 20–800 Hz. Gradual rise to 12 dB at 100 Hz, tapering off smoothly (-30 dB by 800 Hz). Evokes natural calming environments like rainfall or wind.

- Stress Management: Frequencies: 20–1000 Hz. Balanced highs and lows, peaking at 12 dB around 80 Hz, then tapering. Offers a mix of calm and control, ideal for staying composed.
