I'm working on a Pivotal Tracker replacement with a friend. While it's just a tool, it is something that shaped how I view and work on software and we want it to live on. We're hoping to make enough progress before they shut it off to actually help customers transition. That's ambitious given the timeframe, but we're optimistic we can get the basics in place and then layer in reporting and more obscure features over time. The goal right now is to maintain the essence of what makes Pivotal great and then build it into a sustainable business. We believe it can likely be sustainable with the current feature set but it's a little hard to get a sense for the current revenue and user base. I've had some communication with employees at Pivotal/VMware/Tanzu/Broadcom (what a mess), but they are quite limited in what they can say about the issue and from what I can tell only one person really remains focused on it while they shut it down. If they end up open sourcing the code, we'll try to adapt to that and accelerate our progress. Please share any feedback you have or reach out directly if you have strong interest.
I've been working on ptmigration.com, to help folks move off PT. If any of these products have an API and you are looking to offload the migration bits. Let me know.
Are you getting much interest? If so, I'd be interested in collaborating to see if any of your customers or prospects are wanting to stay on a more similar solution than the alternatives.
Welcome to the club! The race is on, i think including me at least 4 individuals / teams are on this. I made a "pivotal tracker community" discord server if anyone wants to have an ongoing conversation and keep track of the different cloning/ open sourcing efforts.
