All very well saying this, but supporting bands that don't tour anymore due to the economic difficulty of it, UK venues closing, bands being in other countries et cetera makes this quite hard.
I would love to go to Augusta Camp in Japan and see COIL live. Always wanted to. Likelihood? Sadly, quite low with my health.
Not sure if you know this, but not uncommonly, non-English-speaking countries, like Japan, don't offer international shipping.
After learning some very simple Japanese, I developed a good relationship with a Japanese record store in the '00s via letters to get each of the very small runs of CDs that Office Augusta used to do (they didn't make it available digitally in the West until well into the '10s). Would get some great additional records gifted from smaller and far more obscure indie artists. Was amazing. Couldn't use cards with their payment system, so paying was a complicated affair, but absolutely worth the fuss.
Somewhat related question... I bought a used hard drive from a thrift store. It has a massive and very eclectic collection of music on it, but the file names and ID3 tags are a bit of a mess. Any recommendation on a good way to clean all that up? The errors also include some band name misspelled, etc.
hey, i might have a good solution... i wrote https://github.com/waveplate/spotifm which allows you to stream spotify over icecast2 and control the playblack with a REST API
