Show HN: I made an app to make podcasts out of your reading list (palate.carrd.co)

hey folks - i made an ios app to make summarized audio from articles that i don't have time to read (or i'm not sure is worth my time quite yet).

to try it out: 1. go to the website 2. click early access button 3. submit the form (only 4 questions)

on the confirmation page after you submit the form, you'll see a link to download the beta app via testflight.

i haven't spent much time on the landing page, marketing materials, etc. the app is still in beta, but i appreciate all feedback including: the app functionality, design, how it solves people's problems, use cases, feature requests, bugs, etc!

the stack is relatively simple - a native ios front end supported by a node.js server. i'm using firebase for easy auth/database and google cloud for storage. this is the first app i built in native ios (swiftui)!

I was able to try the app out, really love the concept. Often find it easier to sneak in audio throughout the day than reading. Are the 'podcasts' designed to be more of a condensed version of the original article in the same tense? Or are they more of a narrative like Founders podcast or something?
thank you!! right now they are currently condensed version in the same tense. in the future i definitely want to push more towards narratives
The landing page looks very nice, and it’s a niche I’m interested in :) Voice quality is important though, do you have an example video of the final product?
thank you!! you are correct about voice quality and that's something that i realized as well.

you can check out this screen recording i just uploaded to google drive to judge for yourself! i also quickly showed the transcript of the summary, fast fwded a few times, and the playback speed adjustment options.

The functionality of the App is appealing, but the content of this site looks a bit rough, and it is recommended that it could be spruced up.
yea i agree. i'll likely add some sort of video demo to the site and a bit more use cases. were you able to try out the app?
