Show HN: Share multiple screens simultaneously in Microsoft Teams (frameable.com)
7 points by dougwbrunton 837 days ago
Hey, HN!

We built the ability for multiple people to share their screen at once in Microsoft Teams. Was a journey figuring out how to use and abuse Teams APIs to essentially get a Teams call embedded in a Teams call...

In the end though, it is so powerful for everyone to be able to share their screens at the same time, and not have to "wait their turn". We use it every day for all sorts of collaborating, planning, etc.

You can use MultiShare for free by installing from AppSource or by clicking the [+ Apps] icon from a Teams meeting and searching for "MultiShare". Would love to hear any questions or feedback you may have.

Gosh I hate teams. Just Today it crashed, because I tried running it in Firefox with ublock I guess. But then Firefox reloaded and it worked, however it simultaneously loaded new teams (for work and school?) by launching an integrated app that I guess snuck in with a windows update. An app which I did not request, and you cannot remove. Then they both wanted my camera and microphone at the same time, which somehow worked…

F** you Microsoft

It's crazy that they still detect Firefox user agents and deliver the old ultra-basic call experience, where half the time you can't see the same thing that everyone else is seeing. When content is "spotlighted" or when there's a bot or app installed in the call, Firefox people just can't see it, and there's not even any messaging saying as much.

Of course if you spoof your user agent to be Chrome or Edge, all works perfectly well. I would bet Microsoft have ended up here out of ignorance more than malice, but either way it's not very nice of them.

We wrote a blog post detailing some of the shenanigans we had to pull with the Teams APIs in order to get this going: https://frameable.com/company/tech/how-we-built-multiple-scr...
Cool, now do Zoom.
