APL was used extensively by the CEGB [1] not only in forecasting power/grid demand, but also for modelling the location and construction of many of the power stations themselves.

Now lost, the Tinsley viaduct towers are fondly remembered by most of the people in Sheffield, even prompted some art: I have this on my wall
