Show HN: No ads, no login website to track work hours

Since I went remote(working) last year, I found it hard to track my work/focus hours. To begin with, I started with my mobile stopwatch but found it to be inefficient and distracting. I then tried some time management tools online but they were geared towards enterprises than individuals. Plus, had too many features.

So, last weekend I created https://www.timemygrind.com/ - a simple focus time tracking tool that requires no login, no internet and has no ads. Once you finish your work, it shows the times in the table below.

I usually pause when I take a break or go out for lunch and has helped me figure out how productive I am.

Eventually, I will add more features but would like to hear your thoughts on this and remote work productivity in general.

This is great. In general the paradigm of simple web app to solve a problem I think is good.

Most "products" in the sense that word is used are too bloated to be viable if you just need it to do the basic thing.

Yeah, I agree, I tried Toggl which is quite popular and was surprised how bloated it had become. The last time I used it was back in 2017 and it was a small yet handy tool for teams.

I tried to log hours with Wakapi and Wakatime plugins for Vscode and Firefox. Heartbeats are still collected when offline, but i'm not sure how precise the time tracking itself is. The collected data can be summarized on a project/branch level, which makes it suitable for hour reports. A first attempt: https://github.com/bitstillery/wakamonth

Great tool! It would make sense to store the current work start time also in the browser so the work time is not lost in case of closing the tab/window/browser
