Volkswagen is returning to physical buttons instead of touch controls (engadget.com)

I've recently been driving a car that has touchscreen controls for turning on the heat, heated seats, adjusting the temperature, and more.

My biggest pet peeve with it is that I have to 1) wait for the system to "boot" and become responsive, and 2) click the acknowledge button on the warning screen, before I can do anything else. It's frustrating on a really cold day.

At least the defrost buttons are physical so I can get those going.

I wonder if this has parallels where people drop flat look-and-feel for more 3d/skeuomorphic look-and-feels
