How does this compare to having a smaller battery in the car, with more energy storage on grid?

I see that this way there are lower transmission losses, but surely this is outweighed by spending extra energy carrying a larger battery around? (Plus more particulates from tyres.)

If people are going to buy oversized batteries for their cars anyway though, then sure, why not?
