I don't like habit streaks. They backfire as soon as the inevitable happens and I miss a day.

To solve that, I created a "Momentum" system that lets you bounce back and recover after a broken streak. I made an app for it (called Polar Habits,) but I've also created this FREE template with Google Sheets, implementing the same system (albeit more basic.)

Yes!! Tracking momentum is so much more encouraging. I just started working out and stretching again this morning (after weeks of travel and not exercising), and it was nice to feel like I'm just "picking up momentum again."
I like this distinction between streaks and momentum. I've found streaks de-motivating as well, but this looks really useful. Thanks for sharing!
I agree, this way of tracking seems much more motivating, not having to lose all progress because you missed a day.
